Reflection

Course Reflection AE 481 and 482

AE senior thesis was a rewarding and challanging experience.  The courses allowed each student to apply information previously learned throughout their time studying in the program.  Senior Thesis also allowed each student to identify real world opportunities and apply solutions to these opportunities.  This was done using factual, analytical and theoretical information.  Thesis also has a very rewarding structure that allows students to work at their own pace.  By having assignments spaced out, each student is able to attack the projects as they see fit.  This is a welcomed change of pace and works well in the final year of school.  The assignments also slowly help you prepare for the final part of the spring semester.  Students are able to dive into topics they find interesting and will continue to find interesting.  The construction faculty was also very helpful, as well as the whole AE faculty.  Everyone is willing to help you in anyway you can and really are there for you benefit.  The professional and academic contacts you meet while embarking on the project will be contacts you keep for a very long time.  Senior thesis has proved to be a very enjoyable experience and will help to further the success of its students as they continue to transfer into their new career paths.

CPEP Reflection

CPEP was a unique experience.  The management of the website and its contents allowed each student to stay on top of tasks and have all of their completed work in one place.  The creation of the website will also allow for student to revisit their work as they move on with their lives.  Creating and maintaining a website is a skill many students may need to employ in the future.

ABET Assessment

Each studnet is asked to complete a survey assessing the effectiveness of the course in terms set by ABET.   This helps to keep the program accredited and continues to graduate top tier engineers.  My personal assessment is located here.

Note: While great efforts have been taken to provide accurate and complete information on the pages of CPEP, please be aware that the information contained herewith is considered a work‐in progress for this thesis project. Modifications and changes related to the original building designs and construction methodologies for this senior thesis project are solely the interpretation of Issac Colson. Changes and discrepancies in no way imply that the original design contained errors or was flawed. Differing assumptions, code references, requirements, and methodologies have been incorporated into this thesis project; therefore, investigation results may vary from the original design.
